R-0453 Mary Ann's Garage Sale (Elliott
Murphy) - Bob is rumoured to contribute backing vocals to this song by
Elliott Murphy This entry has now been moved to "Red Herrings"! This story appeared in "Expecting Rain" in early Mar 2007. Elliott Murphy is an American musician based in France, and the album was recorded at Studio Franklin, Le Havre, France, from 23 Oct 2006. Bob was touring in the USA until 20 Nov 2006, so his appearance is unlikely. He is not included in the credits for this track and Arie de Reus is convinced the performance is of Elliott Murphy duetting with himself! Unless you're an Elliott Murphy fan, you are advised to listen to the track online before purchasing this album. Thanks to Jean-Pol Hiernaux for information and picture, to Tim Dunn for details of the US release and to Arie de Reus for the final verdict. |
"Thunder On The Mountain" - two-track promo CD-R single, Sony BMG/Columbia (no catalogue number) (UK), Feb 2007:
Front of insert - scan by Gerd Rundel |
This CD-R single contains two versions of this track from Modern Times,
the full album version (5:55) and a radio edit (3:59). It comes in a plastic wallet with
a paper insert, blank on the reverse. There is a sticker on the plastic wallet giving UK promotional information. For
a Sony BMG Irish promo CD with just the album version, see
International Singles 2000s. R-0760-2 Thunder On The Mountain - edited version of track (3:59) from Modern Times For a mainland Europe glass mastered CD version of this single in a CD single jewel case, see 2006. For a video viewable at the Sony Music Box web-site with a different edit and an iTunes UK download of this radio edit, see Online Performances (Other). In the video version, the "art of love/fit me like a glove" verse is missing; in this radio edit version, it is present but the later "tough sons of bitches/orphanages" verse is cut out. |

R-0149-8 Trouble In Mind - Slow Train Coming out-take (4:17), B-side of 1979 Columbia 7" singles with one verse omitted, lyrics on bobdylan.com here. For original releases, see 1979.
Paul S. Levine has downloaded it and found the running time is not 4:17 but 4:54. The full version is 5:11 (R-0150, see 1979). The German compilation Pure Dylan (2011) does have the full version! This song was released in slightly edited form (4:50) on Disc 3 of the 8CD+DVD set The Bootleg Series Vol. 13 - Trouble No More 1979-1981 (Deluxe Edition), 3 Nov 2017, so this may be the first appearance of that edit. workshop) as indicated in the booklet, but from the following morning's
