Dylan (2007)
This page is part of a list of original releases by release date of international commercially-released regular stereo Dylan albums. They do not contain rarities or obscurities and are not eligible for the Searching For A Gem list. Nevertheless, their interest value or scarcity means they're worth listing here - as far as I know some are not included on any other Internet site. Promo releases of regular albums are now listed here and no longer in the former yearly Promo sections. |

CD2 (Bonus CD):
1. Most Likely You Go Your Way [Original Version]
2. Most Likely You Go Your Way [Mark Ronson Remix] (R-0826, see
2007)
Harald Sigvartsen says: "In iTunes (and Google Play) the “Deluxe Edition” of 2007's Dylan is actually the single-disc version with four bonus tracks (as found in 2019). The four tracks are the Mark Ronson Re-Version of Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I'll Go Mine) (R-0826, see above) plus three live tracks, all previously released. The cover is identical to the single-disc release. The release date in iTunes is given as 2 Oct 2007. The original version of Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I'll Go Mine) is not included, although it was in the single-disc edition with the bonus single."
The three live tracks are:
Blowin’ In the Wind (Live), recorded at Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium, Santa Cruz, CA, 16 Mar 2000 (R-0436, 7.09). Released on the limited 2-disc edition of the UK set The Best Of Bob Dylan Vol. 2, 2000.
Tryin’ to Get to Heaven (Live), recorded at Wembley Arena, London, 5 Oct 2000 (R-0681, 5:07). Released on a US Columbia promo CD single, see 2004. It can be also be found on CD3 of the 3CD Limited Edition of The Bootleg Series Vol. 8 - Tell Tale Signs: Rare And Unreleased 1989-2006, 2008.
Can’t Wait (Live), recorded at El Rey Theater, Los Angeles, CA, 16 Dec 1997 (R-0270, 6:02). (USA). First released on Love Sick CD singles, 1998. Also released on the Japanese live compilation Thirty Nine Years Of Great Concert Performances, 2001.
Online availability - Notes from Harald Sigvartsen
The Dylan compilation from 2007 (and what I found in iTunes and Google Play):
I was checking iTunes for Bob Dylan related releases when I ,accidentally I must add, found some info that I can’t find on your website regarding this release. The text in the heading in iTunes for this release said it was the “Deluxe Version”, so I assumed it was the three-disc edition that was available for download. The same was said in Google Play, but there I found another piece of info – or rather mis-info –which were quite confusing.
in iTunes (and Google Play) the “Deluxe Edition” is actually the single-disc version with four bonus tracks. The four tracks are the Mark Ronson Re-version of “Most Likely…” plus three live tracks, all previously released (see comments below track list). The cover is identical to the single-disc release. Release date in iTunes is given as 2 Oct 2007. As you may notice the original version of “Most Likely…” is not included, as it were in the single-disc edition with the bonus single.
The complete track list for this iTunes/Google Play release is as follows:
1. Blowin’ In the Wind – 2.46
2. The Times They Are A-Changin’ – 3.15
3. Subterranean Homesick Blues – 2.19
4. Mr. Tambourine Man – 5.25
5. Like a Rolling Stone – 6.08
6. Maggie’s Farm – 3.55
7. Positively 4th Street – 3.53
8. Just Like A Woman – 4.50
9. Rainy Day Women #12 & 35 – 4.35
10. All Along the Watchtower – 2.31
11. Lay, Lady, Lay – 3.18
12. Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door – 2.31
13. Tangled Up In Blue – 5.41
14. Hurricane – 8.33
15. Make You Feel My Love – 3.33
16. Things Have Changed – 5.08
17. Someday Baby – 4.54
18. Forever Young – 4.55
19. Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I’ll Go Mine) [Mark Ronson Remix] – 3.40
20. Blowin’ In the Wind (Live) – 7.09
21. Tryin’ to Get to Heaven (Live) – 5.07
22. Can’t Wait (Live) – 6.02
Notes on the live tracks:
20. Recorded
live 16th March 2000, Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium, Santa Cruz, CA
(USA). Released on the limited 2-dics edition of the UK release The Best Of
Bob Dylan Volume 2, 2000.
21. Recorded live 5th October 2000, Wembley Arena, London England.
Released on the Deluxe Edition of Tell Tale Signs – The Bootleg Series Vol. 8,
2008.
22. Recorded live 16th December 1997, El Rey Theater, Los Angeles, CA
(USA). First released on the Love Sick - CD 2 single, 1998. Also
released on the Japanese live compilation Thirty Nine Years Of Great Concert
Performances, 2001.
The thing I noticed in Google Play is that the album info for this album is the album info for the 1973 Dylan album, which was not what I expected to find. This info is also, correctly, found on the 1973 Dylan album – which here doesn’t have “(A Fool Such As I)” as a part of its album title. This mix-up may be a result of Google Play not checking albums properly – and maybe not being aware of that there exist two very different official Bob Dylan releases with this title.

CD Releases: Single CD Standard Edition
"Everyone Must Get Stoned - October '07" - promo CD+DVD set, Sony BMG (no catalogue number) (Australia), 20 Aug 2007:
This media presentation promo set is housed in a hard plastic wallet and has a CD-R of the single 18-track Dylan CD plus a DVD-R lasting around 3 minutes of photos, snippets of video clips and album sleeves. The discs come in separate jewel cases, each with an insert. The reverse of the DVD insert is the same as the front of the CD-R insert with just "DYLAN". The red colour of the wallet is distinctly darker than that of the inserts. There was also a promo letter from Sony BMG Australia dated 20 Aug 2007.
It's possible that "Icon" was the provisional title for this project. The video material was also available separately as a true DVD in Europe (see VHS & DVD 2000s Part 4), thanks to Hervé from France for the photo. Gary McCarthy has a copy in the same wallet with the same CD-R of the album but with a different DVD-R as shown. The material on the DVD-R is also different.
Thanks to Tim Dunn for finding this on eBay and to Gerd Rundel and Gary McCarthy for information and pictures.
"Dylan" - promo single CD-R, Columbia/Sony BMG (no catalogue number) (Germany), Aug/Sep 2007:
"Dylan" - promo single CD-R, Columbia/Legacy 88697 05928 2 (UK), Sep 2007:
Ian Woodward says there was also a more intriguing promo: "It is in a white plastic envelope with a plain paper insert that gives the title, the track listing and the promotional copy stuff. The title is given over two lines: "Bob Dylan" at the top and "Icon" below that. The tracks are the same 18 tracks as on the regular CD - except the tracks are in chronological order, so that "Forever Young" is Track 13 and the rest shuffle down to "Someday Baby" as Track 18. The CD is a plain silver disc with "Bob Dylan" in the top line and "Icon" as the second line, both in the top half of the disc. To the right of the centre hole are the promotional lines. I wonder if this second promo is in fact an early version of this release. This whole project was instigated and managed by Sony in London." According to Ian, "Icon" was the originally proposed title of the 3CD set.

purchaser a free download of the 2007 Mark Ronson "Re-Version"
remix of Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I'll Go Mine) from Blonde On
Blonde, see 2007. The US release shown is in a
digipak with a black/red CD, whereas the Canadian release shown is in a standard
jewel case with a red/black CD. The European release has the same catalogue
number as the Canadian release and also comes in a standard jewel case -
scans required. The picture under the CD tray is of a rarity, the A-side of the Columbia US promo 7" single with Like A Rolling Stone split over two sides, see 1965. Thanks to Arie de Reus and Jack from Canada for information and scans. |

"Dylan: The Best" - single CD release, Sony Music SICP 1556 (Japan), 24 Oct 2007:
Thanks to Sonny Boy McFitzson for the scan of a promo CD with track listing in Japanese. Although the track listing is the same as the other worldwide releases, on the disc itself Someday Baby is incorrectly positioned as track 13 between Knockin' On Heaven's Door and Tangled Up In Blue. Make You Feel My Love is possibly a remix of the Time Out of Mind version with the vocals and piano stronger. This remix first occurred on the Victoria's Secret exclusive US compilation Lovesick, see 2004. Confusingly, the version on the 3CD Japanese boxed set is the Time Out of Mind original mix!
