This is the sixth part of a separate multi-year list by release date of commercially-released stereo Bob Dylan-only compilation albums (including Greatest Hits albums with non-standard tracklists) that have been referred to me but do not qualify for my Searching For A Gem list because they contain only performances which are all available on officially released Dylan albums. Nevertheless, their interest value or scarcity means they're worth listing here - as far as I know some are not included on any other Internet site. The disc is in a card sleeve and the liner notes, pictures, etc., are supposed to be in a PDF file on the CD+ itself, but appear not to be, at least on my copy. The obi has a price of ¥1,300 (¥1,238 plus sales tax), a release date of "12-8-8" (8 Aug 2012), an original release date of "10-10-12" (12 Oct 2010 - the US release date above) and a withdrawal date of "13-2-7" (7 Feb 2013). |

This radio programme hosted by Rita Houston and named after the James Joyce novel contains songs from both The Bootleg Series Vol. 9 - The Witmark Demos 1962-1964 and The Original Mono Recordings. There are also interviews with Roy Silver, Artie Mogull, Colin Escott and Steve Berkowitz.
There are two versions of the programme: a 54 min version with time allowed for advertisements, and also a 59 min version for public service broadcasting. Thanks to Fred Muller for information that this was broadcast by Radio New Zealand in two parts on 1 Jan 2011 and 8 Jan 2011. The Australian Sony Music version shown comes in a white card sleeve with front and rear stickers. The disc is a Verbatim CD-R with handwritten text.

This is one of a series of budget 3CD sets called The Real... xxx: The Ultimate xxx Collection (shown on the right at the top is the equivalent Elvis Presley compilation - RCA Victor was part of BMG, which merged with Sony in 2008). California was officially first released on NCIS: The Official TV Series Soundtrack Vol. 2 in 2009, when it was a rarity (now see International Album Releases (Various Artist Compilations) 2009), but is no longer a rarity since it was released in Nov 2015 on The Best of The Cutting Edge 1965-1966: The Bootleg Series Vol. 12.

This 2CD set comes with ten 11" x 12.5" photographs and is part of the new "Music & Photos" series, made to attract fans who still enjoy purchasing physical product, as opposed to intangible downloads. The initial releases in the "Music & Photos" series also feature Jeff Buckley, Elvis Presley, and Miles Davis. Each CD set in the series will be packaged with ten photographic prints, housed in a large book-style wallet (11.4" x 0.4" x 12.9"). The tracks included in the Dylan release are the same as the Oct 2010 European revised version of The Essential Bob Dylan (see above and 2014 below). It was not released in the USA. Jack from Canada's copy has an English language sticker on the front and a French language sticker with a price of €25 on the rear. A vinyl 2LP 23 track set of The Essential Bob Dylan was released in Europe in 2016, also see below. This release in a new "Threads + Grooves" series is a 8½" x 5¼" x 2" box with a large black T-shirt (a 1966 photo of Dylan in shades) and the 2008 compilation CD+ Playlist: The Very Best Of Bob Dylan '60s (see International Album Releases (Dylan-Only Compilations) 2000s). The CD is in a plastic jewel box (unlike its earlier namesake which came in a card sleeve) with a different catalogue number than the complete package, and its predecessor: 88697 84573 2 (number on disk and spine of jewel box). The front is the same on both issues but the rear is somewhat different as the earlier release has text "what makes the perfect playlist?" and "100% recycled paperboard" while the new release does not. This Columbia US 13 track sampler on CD-R comes in a generic promo card
sleeve with a front circular cut-out and a rear sticker. The tracks are
taken from the 4CD Deluxe Limited Edition of The Bootleg Series, Vol. 10
- Another Self Portrait (1969-1971), although only one track comes from
CD4, the remastered Self Portrait, the original version of Copper
Kettle. This track without overdubs from CD2 is also on this sampler.
Highway 61 Revisited, here wrongly listed as "Highway 61", is the live
version from the Isle of Wight and could come from CD2 or CD3. The disc is
numbered and watermarked. The front sticker "AUTHENTIC LIMITED EDITION"

This 2CD non-album track compilation from The Complete Album Collection Vol. One contains a rarity (R-0085, George Jackson - acoustic version, B-side of 1971 Columbia single, see 1971). Also, Mixed-Up Confusion is now confirmed as the alternate take from the 1985 release of Biograph (R-0748, see 1985), not the stereo mix of the original 1962 single that appeared on the 1997 remastered edition of Biograph (R-0007, see 1997)! Because of the rarities, full details are in 2013. The Japanese 2CD set comes on Blu-Spec CD2 discs and has an orange/white top obi. There is also a Japanese language booklet. Side Tracks was also released in the USA and Europe as a Record Store Day limited numbered edition 3LP set in a three panel gatefold sleeve. The 2012 release was a very limited 4CD-R set covering unreleased studio and live performances from 1962, this 2013 release is a 6LP stereo/mono vinyl boxed set covering unreleased studio and live performances from 1963. The set will be on sale from independent retailers only in the UK, France, Germany and Scandinavia. The tracklisting is pasted on the rear of the box. This 5CD limited edition boxed set with 87 tracks is being released in Japan in conjunction with Bob's April 2016 tour there, and also to celebrate his 75th birthday. The card box has a wrap-around obi with price price of this set is ¥10,000 plus sales tax ($98). The set was compiled by Kenta Hagiwara, who also wrote the liner notes, with lyrics translated by Goro Nakagawa (English lyrics for some songs aren't included "by the artist's intention"). The set comes with a 200 page book in Japanese. |

2LP set, a new version of the 2000 2CD compilation album, released in
Europe on 8 Jul 2016. It contains only 23 tracks (the original 2000 CD
release had 30 tracks, although 36 track and updated versions have been released
since), but Side 4 includes three tracks not released in 2000, up to Long
And Wasted Years from Tempest in 2012. For the previous 2010 and 2014
2CD sets, see above. The set comes in a wide single sleeve that holds both records, not a gatefold sleeve. The records are in plain white paper inner sleeves. There is a double-sided insert with release dates of all the tracks, credits, etc. The records have silver Columbia record labels. |

The European release has the same front sleeve and sticker. The rear sleeve now has the Sony Music logo at bottom left. The records were made in the EU and again have silver Columbia record labels, this time with handwritten matrix numbers: Side 1 - 88985309551, Side 2 - 88985309551, Side 3 - 88985309551, Side 4 - 88985309551 (different from the US record matrix numbers). There are also stamped matrix numbers opposite the handwritten matrix numbers on all four sides but they are too faint to be readable.

I Shall Be Released, Tomorrow Is A Long Time and Watching The River Flow are from Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits Vol. 2. Forever Young is the Slow Version from Planet Waves. Dignity is the original out-take version from Oh Mercy that first appeared on the Touched By An Angel TV series soundtrack album (formerly R-0273, see 1998, but no longer a rarity after appearing on 2007's Dylan).
The set also comes with two booklets, lots of photos, and liner notes in South Korean. Mike Richardson says the tracklist has enough "outside-of-the-box" choices (e.g. Queen Jane Approximately, Shooting Star and Bob Dylan's Blues) to keep it interesting.

This 2017 2CD set created for promotional purposes by Sony Music/ATV Germany has two discs fixed to a thick 12" card, one disc of Dylan originals, one disc of Dylan covers. The image is a still from Bob's 1965 Subterranean Homesick Blues video. There is also a notepad with a quote from Tombstone Blues from Highway 61 Revisited on the top sheet. The tracklist is:

This selection compiled by German "Rolling Stone" editor Maik Brüggemeyer is included with the Nov 2017 issue of the German edition of the magazine, and includes ten tracks from editions of The Bootleg Series including a currently unreleased "country-style" version of Caribbean Wind from The Bootleg Series Vol. 13 - Trouble No More 1979-1981. This compilation has been put together with the permission of Bob's business manager Jeff Rosen and the assistance of Searching For A Gem contributor Dr. Hanns Peter Bushoff of Sony Music Germany.
My CD comes in a jewel case with a clear tray and a single folded front insert. Lars-Arne Klintworth says his CD comes in a card sleeve, not a jewel case. Thanks to Jürgen Wasser for clarifying that the CDs in jewel cases come with magazines sold in shops, the CDs in card sleeves come with the magazines sent by post to subscribers. Lars-Arne also points out that the magazine cover from the "Rolling Stone" web-site is not the same as the one on newsstands. For example, the top line "Der traurige Abschied von Tom Petty [The sad Departure of Tom Petty] has been changed to the more positive "Tom Petty: das Herz des Rock 'n' Roll [Tom Petty: the Heart of Rock 'n' Roll]". Also, the text lines on the right are differently ordered.

This CD-Book was published on 17 Dec 2017 and sold together with the Spanish newspaper El País. It was released by Prisanoticias Colecciones, part of PRISA, the group owner of El País, on behalf of Sony Music España ("Columbia" is still not used in Spain). The CD includes an exclusive compilation of 18 tracks with remastered versions of Knockin' On Heaven's Door and Baby, Stop Crying. The book has a lot of pictures and text in Spanish by journalist Fernando Navarro, and by musicians Coque Malla (leader of the former band, Los Ronaldos, very popular in Spain from the late 1980s until the mid 1990s) and Quique González (who covered Is Your Love In Vain? in Spanish as ¿Es Tu Amor En Vano? in his album Delantera Mítica [Legendary Forwards] released in 2013). Manuel explains that "Delantera Mítica" can mean the "legendary forwards" of a football team, but also has an adult slang meaning applying to a woman such as Sophia Loren!

This 2CD set contains all Bob's versions of the songs covered in the hit musical play, performed in London in 2017-18. The songs cover the whole of Bob's career from the show's title track from The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan in 1963 to Duquesne Whistle from Tempest in 2012. The set comes in a slimline 2CD jewel case with a clear tray. Thanks to Éamonn Ó Catháin for information that this release was also made available for download by Amazon in Aug 2018.
Anders Lindh thinks that track 4 on CD 1 on this compilation, Slow Train, is a substantially different mix than on the 2003 remaster of Slow Train Coming. Soundwise, it more resembles the mixes on the 2017 release The Bootleg Series Vol. 13 - Trouble No More 1979-1981, to his ears.

There are two versions, one with 14 tracks on CD2, and the other with only 13. The 14-track version is available in Japan only and costs ¥3,024. Reports of a 13-track Japanese version costing ¥1,852 now seem incorrect and must relate to imports only. The following track is available only on the Japanese release:

It contains liner notes in Japanese plus lyrics in Japanese and English. The price is ¥2,400 plus tax. The 18 track CD contains two bonus tracks including one rarity: Make You Feel My Love (Live), recorded at Pauley Pavilion, UCLA, Los Angeles, CA, 21 May 1998. Edition of “ISIS Anthology Volume 3”. Published by Red Planet to celebrate
ISIS reaching our landmark 200th issue, this very special edition will be an
Author Signed and Individually Numbered, Limited Edition Hardback with a
print run of just 500. Any ISIS customer who orders the Anthology before
January 21, 2019 can have their name printed in the book. We are pleased and
proud to announce that this edition of the book will contain a unique
70-plus-minute, 18-track compilation CD featuring songs from across Bob
Dylan’s illustrious career. This officially sanctioned album, featuring
tracks from Boots of Spanish Leather to Long and Wasted Years, is only
available with the Deluxe Edition of the ISIS Anthology. Several tracks are
not available on regular albums; George Jackson (Big
Band Version), Heart of Mine (extended version) and When I Paint My
Masterpiece (Leon Russell out-take version). This collection would not be
complete without a live performance of Isis (Boston Music Hall, November 21,
1975). Many of the tracks included on this compilation are 2005-2013

| Thanks to Hermann Rechberger, Jack from Canada and Tim Dunn for news of a 14CD set called The Rolling Thunder Revue: The 1975 Live Recordings to be released by Sony Music on 7 Jun 2019. It is reported to be limited to 3000 copies and Amazon are offering it for sale at $109.98 (US) £59.99 (UK). This will be released in conjunction with Martin Scorsese's documentary Rolling Thunder Revue - A Bob Dylan Story By Martin Scorsese, which contains a great deal of performance footage plus an exclusive interview with Bob by Jeff Rosen, and will be available on Netflix about the same time. As this is a Limited Edition, all previously unreleased tracks will be rarities and allocated R-numbers in due course. For details of the documentary film see VHS & DVD 2010s. | ||||

This 2CD compilation of Dylan Top 40
singles from Holland was compiled using the Dutch Top 40 chart positions.
This is why tracks such as Wigwam (which was Bob's biggest hit in Holland)
are included. CD2 includes several rarities, exclusive singles that are not
on Bob's regular albums and single versions of album tracks, so the set is
also listed in

Apparently there are only 200 copies for sale in Europe - the UK, France and Germany. The set consists of out-takes from Nashville Skyline and Self Portrait, all of which are rarities, so a full listing is in 2019. |
