YOU BET YOUR LIFE Bob Dylan (?), 1967 N?

YOU CAN BLOW MY MIND (IF YOU WANT TO)

Bob Dylan/Britta Lee Shain, 1987 N?

Information from Tim Dunn: "In “Bob Dylan: Behind The Shades 20th Anniversary Edition” (Faber and Faber, 2011, p.618-619) Clinton Heylin discusses Dylan's affair with Britta Lee Shain, the girlfriend of his then "personal assistant" Gary Shafner, which began "two weeks into" the fall 1987 European tour. Heylin describes her as, at the time, a "sometime realtor." Shain's website biography () notes that she tried her hand as a screenwriter and novelist, and wrote a book called “Seeing The Real You At Last”, mentioned by Heylin on p.874). While she does not mention the affair, Shain confirms that she "joined" Dylan's "entourage" on that tour. According to Heylin, Dylan and Shain co-wrote a song during their time together, but he does not provide a title. On 27 April 2011 a song with the date of creation "1987" was registered for copyright as an unpublished manuscript with the title YOU CAN BLOW MY MIND (IF YOU WANT TO). Bob Dylan and Britta Lee Shain are given as the authors of the lyrics, and also as the co-claimants of the copyright (Special Rider Music is not given). As the data in the copyright record does not mention music, it seems likely that only the lyrics were submitted to the U.S. Copyright Office. This has to be the song to which Heylin refers. Now a singer-songwriter, Britta Lee Shain released her first album, “Between The River And The Road”, on CDBY Records in October 2010, but it does not contain the song." Thanks also to Tim for information that Britta's second album "What The Heart Wants", released in 2016, does contain her cover of YOU CAN BLOW MY MIND (IF YOU WANT TO)
