This is part of a list by release date of international (now including the USA, which was once listed separately) promo and commercially-released stereo 7" and 12" singles and EPs for 1975 that do not qualify for my Searching For A Gem list because they contain only performances which are available on officially released Dylan albums. Nevertheless, their interest value or scarcity means they're worth listing here - as far as I know many are not included on any other Internet site. Special thanks to Hans Seegers for many of these items! Stereo promo versions of commercially released singles that were formerly listed in the Promotional Items sections of the yearly pages are now listed here. Singles released exclusively for promotional purposes are now listed here also. I would also like to include cassette singles here, but I don't have any, and none have been notified to me so far.
If you have any entries to add to the list or additions/corrections to existing entries, please let me know! Please note I cannot value your Dylan rarities - see the Mission page for reasons why. Contact the dealers on my Trading page for assistance!

"Like A Rolling Stone"/"Positively 4th Street"/"On The Road Again" - 7" stereo "Gemini Twins" cassette EP, CBS 40-6464 (France), mid-1970s(?):

CBS France launched the "Gemini" series for 7"singles in mid-1966 - this cassette was released in the short-lived "Gemini Twins" series which reissued two separate vinyl singles from the 1960s on one cassette. According to an Internet forum there were only ever four cassettes released in this series, one of them from the French vocal group Les Compagnons de la Chanson [The Companions of Song]".
This tape compiles two records previously released as 7" singles: Like A Rolling Stone originally released in France as "Part 1"/"Part 2" (CBS 1692) and Positively 4th Street/On The Road Again (CBS 2144). The cassette comes in a card box with the same artwork on both sides. The spines are not quite identical - the printer's credit is only present on the left spine as shown. The cassette is in a moulded thin white plastic case inside the box and is white with orange CBS "STEREO mono" labels, again undated.
Thanks to Manuel García Jara and Hans Seegers for information and scans.
"The Times They Are A-Changin'"/"Honey Just Allow Me Once More Chance" - 7" stereo single, CBS 201751 (UK), 1970s:
CBS 201751 (UK, stereo) - A-side scan by Hans Seegers (first copy) |
This single was originally released with the same catalogue
number in Mar 1965 in mono, see Mono 7" Singles & EPs 1965. It
was re-released in 1974, still in mono. This version has "STEREO" printed on the
label. I don't have a definite date for this single, but Hans Seegers says
this style of label without an "LC" capsule was used up to 1979,
so that would place it between 1975 and 1979. Two copies with holes punched through the labels are also illustrated. The original 1965 and the 1974 mono singles are shown for comparison. Thanks to Hans Seegers for information and scans. |

Bob Dylan/The Band - "En Una Noche Como Esta [On A Night Like This]"/The Eagles - "Lo Mejor De Mi Amor [The Best Of My Love]" - 7" promo single, Asylum/Asfona (no catalogue number) (Chile), 1975:
The tracks were taken from two consecutive Asylum albums: the Dylan track from Planet Waves (7E-1003) and The Eagles track from On The Border (7E-1004). Both albums were released in the USA in 1974 but they were not released in Chile until 1975, as stated on the single labels. This single has a generic Asfona sleeve made of plastic with text at the bottom and the usual slogan "EL DISCO ES CULTURA [THE RECORD IS CULTURE]" (a protest against sales tax on records but not books). The other side of the sleeve is identical.
All other promo and commercial singles with On A Night Like This as the A-side and You Angel You as the B-side are in US & International 7" & 12" Singles & EPs 1974.
Thanks to Manuel García Jara for information and scans.

1975 for a West German promo single with an edited version of
this song. For the promo and commercial versions of the regular stereo single with the same catalogue number and with the full length version of Tangled Up In Blue as the A-side and If You See Her, Say Hello as the B-side, see below. |

Éamonn Ó Catháin points out that this single (stereo or mono) is 5:31 in length while the album track is 5:41. The track is not edited but speeded up, and "makes Bob sound like The Chipmunks"!
Thanks to Hans Seegers for information and scans.
"Tangled Up In Blue"/"If You See Her, Say Hello" - promo and commercial 7" singles, Columbia 3-10106 (USA), 25 Feb 1975:
There were two different Columbia US white label promo versions of this single with the same catalogue number, both with Tangled Up In Blue only:
This single with the same two tracks was reissued in 1976 in the US "Hall of Fame" series as Columbia 13-33280, see International Singles & EPs 1976.

These two songs on the commercial releases and one of the West German promos were the regular album versions from Blood On The Tracks.
S CBS 3160 (UK) - A-side scan by Augie Krater |
The UK single did not have a picture sleeve. The West German promo single comes in the "CBS-Blitzinformation" sleeve with white labels. There is a Jun 1975 variant of this promo single with the same catalogue number with a radio edit of Tangled Up In Blue, see 1975. The promo A-side with the short version does not have the red lightning bolt, but the promo a-side with the long version does. Similarly the B-side of Stefan Haras' single does not have the red lightning bolt, but the B-side of Manuel's single does. The West German commercial single used the new style orange/yellow CBS labels. For details of a 1975 US promo 7" single with a mono version of Tangled Up In Blue, see Mono 7" Singles & EPs 1970-76. |

The letter shown below right was included with promo copies of the Spanish single, which had the same sleeve and record labels as the commercial single. The newsvendor shown on the album sleeve and the front of the Spanish single was reported to be the legendary New York City personality Jimmy Berman, subject of the Allen Ginsberg/Bob Dylan song Jimmy Berman Rag, which first appeared on the compilation Disconnected - The Dial-A-Poem Poets Double, see 1974, but Patrick Rofflaer says he is actually actor Angelo Rossitto, famous for his roles in films such as "Freaks" and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome". |
