This is part of a list by release date of international (now including the USA, which was once listed separately) promo and commercially-released stereo 7" and 12" singles and EPs for 1977 that have been referred to me but do not qualify for my Searching For A Gem list because they contain only performances which are available on officially released Dylan albums. Nevertheless, their interest value or scarcity means they're worth listing here - as far as I know many are not included on any other Internet site. Special thanks to Hans Seegers for many of these items! Stereo promo versions of commercially released singles that were formerly listed in the Promotional Items sections of the yearly pages are now listed here. Singles released in this time period exclusively for promotional purposes are now here also. I would also like to include cassette singles here, but I don't have any, and none have been notified to me so far.

"Romance In Durango"/"Sara" - 7" stereo single, CBS 4989 (Spain), 1977:

This single is unique in that it's the only worldwide appearance of Sara
on a 7" release. Although Romance In Durango segues into Black Diamond Bay
on Side 2 of Desire, this 5:50 stand-alone version is 6 seconds
longer than R-0519 from a Japanese 7" single as the B-side of One More Cup
of Coffee, see 1976. I'm therefore classifying it as a separate rarity, see 1977. This unfaded version previously appeared on a CBS Sugar Italy 8-track tape cartridge release of Desire, see 1976. |
