The Band plus Guests - "The Last Waltz" -
commercial and promotional 3LP sets, Warner
Bros 3WS 3146 (USA), recorded 25 Nov 1976, released Apr 1978, re-released 1978
(twice), 1989; Warner Bros/Rhino Records
RHM 1 7801 (USA), 2003;
Warner Bros/Rhino Records R1 3146 (USA), 20 Apr 2013:
For details of The Last Waltz VHS and laserdisc releases, see
VHS & DVD 1970s. A new expanded DVD version was released in Apr
2002, see VHS & DVD
2000s Part
1.
The accompanying 2002 Expanded Edition 4CD boxed set with 24 newly released
tracks includes Bob and the Band's performance of Hazel, the song from Planet
Waves omitted from the original release (R-0540, see 2002).
The 2002 4CD boxed set still does not contain the complete concert - Georgia On My Mind performed by The Band is missing, and King Harvest
by The Band appears in a performance from the rehearsal, not the concert
performance itself. None of the tracks from Side 6 of the 3LP release ("The Last
Waltz Suite") are from the actual concert. Thanks to Steve Perrin for
information about a 2018 Blu-ray Eureka Video UK Blu-ray release, see
VHS & DVD 2010s.
Warner Bros 3WS 3146 (USA),
first promo and commercial releases:
There is also a cut in the sleeve along the bottom edge
indicating this copy is a promo. The booklet, inner sleeves and record labels
are identical to those of the second promo and commercial releases below. There
is an important difference from all the worldwide releases (except the
Argentinean release) - the front has the gold foil centre Last Waltz logo but
without the contrasting black background. Also shown are the front and rear of a
sealed commercial edition of this set being sold by Jeff Gold of Record Mecca on
eBay, who confirms this release is very rare and it was the real first US
pressing. The design must have been quickly changed!
Warner Bros 3WS 3146 (USA),
second promo and commercial releases:
Warner Bros 3WS 3146 (USA) - detail of front of 3LP set,
scan by Sergio Mariano Romay (includes brown circular sticker and $8.99
price sticker)
Warner Bros 3WS 3146 (USA) - detail of rear of 3LP set,
scan by Steven Fant (all releases)
This 3LP set is housed in a deep single 12" sleeve, not a
gatefold, and includes a 12" 12-page booklet. The rear sleeve shows only the
list of artists who participated. The gold foil sticker from Steven Fant has the
Warner Bros logo below the Last Waltz design, and copyright information printed
vertically on the right.
All tracks recorded live with The Band, Winterland, San Francisco, CA, 25 Nov
1976. R-0140-0143 - Bob Dylan with The Band; R-0144 - Bob Dylan with The Band
and ensemble.
R-0140 Baby Let Me Follow You Down (Rev Gary Davies, arr.
Eric von Schmidt)
Hazel was performed between R-0140 and R-0141 (R-0540, see 2002).
R-0141 I Don't Believe You
R-0142 Forever Young
- version with second verse missing - the 2002 Rhino
Records 4CD boxed set has the full version (R-0630, see
2002)
R-0143 Baby Let Me Follow You Down ((Rev Gary Davies, arr.
Eric von Schmidt) - reprise
R-0144 I Shall Be Released
On the Side 5 record label of this release R-0144 is timed at 3:53 plus "FADE 1:29". See comments for other
releases about different listed timings, even though the track always plays
exactly the same.
In this release the order of the concert is altered considerably from how it
actually took place. The Band played a long set on their own, then a set with
guests one after the other, then a shorter set on their own again. Finally Bob
came on for his set with The Band, followed by the finale. Here the songs with
guests other than Bob are misleadingly sequenced throughout the discs - this
incorrect order was unfortunately repeated in the 2002 4CD release. You need to
get hold of a bootleg release like The Complete Last Waltz to hear the
concert as it really was, but none of the bootlegs is in anywhere near as good quality as the
official releases.
Warner Bros 3WS 3146 (USA) - spine with copyright text, scan by Manuel García Jara (all releases)
The second promo US release
sleeve has the same pink and black sticker with the text "Promotional Copy Not For
Sale" on the front as on the first promo release above. It also has a gold stamp with the identical promo text. The
rest of artwork is the same as all other US releases. The record labels are the
same as the first 1978 commercial release below (e.g. the Side 5 label with the
Dylan set has two song titles above the centre hole). The record labels of the
2013 Record Store Day release below also have this design.
Warner Bros 3WS 3146 (USA), record labels, first 1978 release:
This was previously listed as the
second release, but the labels of both promo releases and the 2013 Record Store
Day reissue are the same as these, so it must really be the first.
Warner Bros 3WS 3146 (USA) - Side 1 ("RECORD 1, SIDE 1") scan by Manuel García Jara (first release, no Dylan) |
The records of this first 1978 release
have Warner Bros "Burbank palm tree" picture labels and come in buff card
inner sleeves with the catalogue number printed at top right. They are
very different in detail from subsequent releases. The differences include:
- Album title in bold letters not in italics
- Smaller/fainter copyright text in the circumference
- Song titles above the centre hole on some sides
- "RECORD" 1-2-3 in capital letters to the right of the centre hole.

second 1978 release:
Warner Bros 3WS 3146 (USA) - Side 1 ("Record 1 SIDE 1") scan by Steven Fant (second
release, no
Dylan) |
The second 1978 release again comes in the same wide sleeve,
with booklet. Labels have the same "Burbank Palm Tree" design but are
very different in detail. The differences include:
- Album title in italics, not bold letters
- bolder copyright text in the circumference
- "Record" 1-2-3 in upper case/lower case to the right of the centre hole.

labels, third 1978 release:
Warner Bros 3WS 3146 (USA) - Side 1 ("RECORD 1, SIDE I") scan by Manuel García Jara (third release, no Dylan) |
The third release was bought in early 1979, but may also
date from 1978. The record also has the "Burbank Palm Tree" design of
labels and they are again different from previous albums. The most
noticeable differences are:
- Album title in regular letters, not italics or bold
- Side "I" - "II" instead of Side "1" - "2"
- The songs above the centre hole vary again: Side 1 - none,
Side 2 - none, Side 3 - one, Side 4 - one, Side 5 - one,
Side 6 - one.

labels, 1989 release:
Warner Bros 3WS 3146 (USA) - Side 1 ("RECORD 1, 1") scan by Manuel García Jara (1989 release, no Dylan) |
Micol Cazzell has a later copy of the US release with
catalogue number 3WS 3146 with plain beige Warner Bros labels, not the "Burbank palm
tree" picture labels. Manuel García Jara explains:
"This design had been used by Warner Bros since the early 1970s, the new plain
beige colour design was not used until 1977. In some countries, like Spain or
South Africa/Rhodesia, this album was released only with the new design, but in
many countries there were releases of
The Last Waltz
with both designs, but the "Burbank palm tree" labels always came first."
Shown are the record
labels from the 1989 release. The sleeve and booklet are identical to other
releases with a slight difference (all previous releases and the "Record
Store Day" release below have a textured sleeve, but not this reissue). Like
some European releases of the time, the record labels have the new Warner
design: beige colour, small lettering and multiple "shadow" Warner logos
instead of parallel lines. There must be other US releases (from early 1980
until the late 1980s) with beige labels and parallel lines. |

Warner Bros/Rhino Handmade RHM1 7801 (USA) - box
front scan by Manuel García Jara (2003 release) |
In Feb 2003 Rhino reissued the original 1978 release of The Last
Waltz in a 30-track Limited Edition 3LP 180gm vinyl boxed set. The
material reproduces the original album, but is taken from the 2002 4CD
54-track release remastered by Robbie Robertson, see
2002. There was also a Limited Edition 2CD
set, see the CD section below. This very expensive box edition was limited
to 1500 copies and each copy was hand-numbered. The box is very wide, even wider than other 5LP
boxes (e.g. Biograph) with no text on the spine, and comes in two
separate parts. The inside of the box front has a black and white
picture of the audience (not shown). The inside of the box rear has a
black cardboard tray, designed to hold all the memorabilia items. The
rear of the box has the 2003 date in the copyright text. |

The box includes:
- 3 LPs (180 gm) with Burbank Palm Tree design of
labels and beige inner sleeves
- The original booklet (see above). It doesn't have the new
catalogue number and looks identical to that of the 1978 release
- A 12" x 12" print, made of highest quality cardboard
and intended to be framed, that
reproduces the front of the album, textured and with the front picture in
relief. Manuel's copy is hand-numbered "149/1500"
and was signed by Robbie Robertson
- 14 pictures of the artists (10" x 8½"; made of high
quality paper in black and white or colour).
- Two reproductions (10" x 8½"; textured cardboard, of
watercolours of the stage by Boris Leven (the art director of the movie)
- A reproduction of a ticket for the concert at
Winterland Arena, San Francisco, CA, 25 Nov 1976
- A reproduction of the original coaster used in the
Thanksgiving Day dinner during the concert
- A badge with "The Last Waltz"
- A list with the name of artists, guest, staff, etc.,
and their respective rooms, probably provided by a member of The Band's staff
to the San Francisco hotel.

Thanks to Tim Dunn for news that the album was
available as a numbered limited edition 3LP set in 180gm heavyweight vinyl
for Record Store Day, USA and Europe, 20 Apr 2013. This release has a new
catalogue number, "R1 3146" instead of "3WS 3146", but otherwise has the same
wide outer sleeve and booklet as the 1978 release. There are three stickers on
the front sleeve on the shrink-wrap, and two more stickers on the rear sleeve,
including the number of this copy "0027/5000" The booklet has a front design
in a lighter black than the 1978 release and has the new catalogue number on
the rear. The records come in beige inner sleeves, also with the catalogue
number in the front corner at top right, and have "Burbank palm tree" labels
with the same layout as those of the first 1978 release above.
Thanks to Steven Fant and Manuel García Jara for
information and scans.

The two 8-track tape cartridges come in orange slipcases with text in English
and French, the rear of the slipcases is generic. The tape cartridges are yellow
with a buff label on tape 1 and a blue label on tape 2. The text on the
cartridge labels is in English only. The tracklist has been bizarrely reordered,
completely differently from that of the US 8-track release above: the Dylan set
is split over programs 1 and 2 of tape 2 (with three Band tracks intervening)
but the last track of Bob's set, I Shall Be Released, is amazingly in program 4
of tape 1, and not split across two programs as on the US release!

The Band plus Guests - "The Last Waltz" - 3LP set, Warner Bros
K66076 (UK), Apr 1978,
re-released six times up to 1986:
The UK set has at least five record
label variants, all released in the period 1978-1986, and all in the same sleeve
with the same booklet. The first three have the "Burbank palm tree" record label
design, while the last two have the later beige Warner Bros design. Earlier
records come in beige card sleeves with the catalogue number printed at front
top right, while the records of my May 1983 copy come in plain white inner sleeves.

The US and UK releases are virtually identical, with the differences
shown. The set again comes in a wide sleeve with a 12-page booklet. The
front sleeve has a cut-out in the centre of the open edge to assist in
removing the contents. The two 1978 copies shown have a black circular
front sticker with white text promoting the album, different from the
brown/beige US sticker above.
Manuel García Jara has seven UK sets of "The Last Waltz": all of them were bought in new in
London.
- First release, bought in May of 1978. The front sleeve has a sticker
missing from my 1983 copy. The records have Warner Bros "Burbank palm tree"
picture labels (also used in the CD releases of the original set, see below)
and come in buff card inner sleeves with the catalogue number printed at top
right.
- Second release (two variants), both bought in Sep 1978 on the same day at the
same record shop (HMV, Oxford Street) They were not sealed and Manuel's father bought two
copies because he saw that the record labels were different: the first variant has "Record 1/2/3",
the second variant has
"Record One/Two/Three". A copy of this set is known to exist with mixed
labels: Records 1/2 - first variant; Record Three - second variant! David Burgess' 1978 copy has the same front
sticker and the records have second release, second variant labels.
- Third release, bought in Jan 1979. The record labels now have the beige Warner design,
but the text layout is exactly the same as the second release, second variant.
- Fourth release, bought sealed in Jun 1982. All the previous sets have the
front sticker glued directly on the sleeve, this did not have a sticker on the
shrink-wrap or on the cardboard of the front sleeve. The records have beige
Warner Bros labels again, but with a different text layout from those of the
third release. Manuel's copy has the word
"ALLEN" in addition to the matrix numbers in all sides except side 4
(not enough space), not present in any previous releases. My copy has "ALLEN"
on every side except Side 5. This means the records were mastered by Verden
Allen, who worked for both CBS and WEA in the 1970s.
- Fifth release, bought in January of 1983. New and sealed, without sticker. The
records of this
set again have the same labels (with "ALLEN") as the fourth release
copies with one important difference. All previous copies have beige card original
inner sleeves with the catalogue number printed at front top right and a cut-out at the top of
one side only, but this copy has generic white inner sleeves with the well known
symbol "Home Taping Is Killing Music"! This warning text was used
first in 1983.
- Sixth release, bought in 1986, with identical labels and generic white
inner sleeves without the "Home Taping" symbol (my May 1983 copy is like this).

My May 1983 replacement copy did not have a front sticker. The records of my
copy are in plain white sleeves without the "Home Taping" symbol and have the later beige Warner Bros labels. They have
written matrix numbers: Side 1 - K-66076-A-1, Side 2 - K-66076-B-1, Side 3 -
K-66076-C-1, Side 4 - K-66076-D-1, Side 5 - K-66076-E-1-IS, Side 6 -
K-66076-F-1. All sides except Side 5 also have "ALLEN" stamped in the vinyl (the
run off area on Side 5 is very narrow). There
are no track timings on any of the record labels.

The Band plus Guests - "The Last Waltz" - 3LP set, Warner Bros
WB 66 076 (West Germany), Apr 1978, re-released late 1978, 1979, 1980, 1986,
1988:
Like Holland for CBS, from the mid 1970s
West Germany was the European headquarters for Warner Bros: records made there
were exported to other European countries. 15-20
different releases of The Last Waltz
were made in West Germany (not all yet listed) to be sold there or to be exported to other countries.
Warner Bros WB 66 076 (West
Germany) - front scan by Gerd Rundel (all releases) |
These sets can be classified into three
groups:
-
Totally German releases: Sleeve and
booklet printed in Germany, records made in Germany by WEA Musik GmbH, "GEMA" logo on labels.
-
Records made in Germany to be exported
to other European countries: Sleeve and booklet printed in Germany, records
made in Germany, different European logos on labels ("SACEM", "STEMRA", "BIEM",
etc.)
-
Mixed releases:
Sleeve and booklet printed in Germany, records
made in other countries (e.g. France and Holland), different European logos
on labels (e.g. "SACEM"
and "STEMRA")
All these sets have a sleeve and booklet
made in Germany. This is a wide single textured sleeve with some variants on the
rear, but the front, the 12-page 12" booklet and the beige inner sleeves
always are the same.
The
front of the booklet is the same as the front of the outer sleeve.

The code at top right of
the rear sleeve of the 1978 releases is "WB 66 076 / (3 WS 3146) / (E) / France / (3xU)", also
"LC|0302" in a capsule is at bottom right. On the Side 5
record labels of all these releases R-0144 is timed at 3:53 and "FADE 1:29"
is not mentioned. See comments for other
releases about different listed timings, even though the track always plays
exactly the same.
First release (1978):
Warner Bros WB 66 076 (West
Germany) - Side 1 (Record 1, Side 1) scan by Gerd Rundel (first release, no Dylan) |
The
first release sleeve and records were made in Germany by WEA Musik GmbH
(although this is not on the record labels above - see detail scans).
As can be seen from the rear sleeve, this set was also sold in France. The
records have US-style "Burbank palm tree" design Warner Bros labels
with "LC|0302" in a capsule at top right and the German "GEMA" copyright logo.
The
records shown have handwritten matrix numbers: Side 1 - WEA-3-WS-1-3146-A, Side
2 - WEA-3-WS-2-3146-B, Side 3 - WEA-3-WS-3-3146-A, Side 4 - WEA-3-WS-4-3146-B,

made in Germany to be sold there. The labels again have the "Burbank palm

Third release (late 1979):
Warner Bros WB 66 076 (West
Germany) - rear scan by
Manuel García Jara (third release) |
The third release of this
album made in West Germany was released in late 1979 and is virtually
identical to the second release apart from two slight differences:
- The code in the top right corner of
rear sleeve now has an "L" in a circle instead of an "E". This new code
was used for most of the 1980s also.
- The record labels still have the
Burbank palm three design and "LC|0392" in a capsule. The copyright text
in the circumference is the same as that of the second release with
"MADE
IN GERMANY BY WEA MUSIK GMBH".
The only label difference between the second and third releases is the "GEMA"
logo - the box round the logo is thinner and differently sized;
also the word "GEMA" is in a different typeface, see especially the "G"
and "M".

The West German 1980 release again
has the same booklet, beige inner sleeves and the usual wide single and textured
sleeve printed in West Germany, again with "L" in a circle on the rear
at top right.
The record labels have now the new beige design with parallel lines. They have
"MADE IN GERMANY", the "GEMA" logo (with the third release typeface) and two lines of
copyright text in German and English around the bottom half of the
circumference. After several changes to the "Burbank palm tree" design of labels,
this new design was used until the mid-1980s.
These six releases were all made in West Germany (sleeve, booklet and
records) and either sold there or exported to other countries. The record
labels are identical except for the individual country copyright
organisation logos to the left of the centre hole! They're shown all
together for comparison.
Fifth release (1986):
Warner Bros WB 66 076 (West
Germany) - rear scan by
Manuel García Jara (fifth release) |
This was the last
release
with this second variant of labels, beige with parallel lines. It has the
new code on the rear sleeve at top right, used for the Austrian and Swiss
releases below, as well as the same feature at bottom right: the "WEA" logo
in relief, hardly visible. The record labels have a noticeable difference:
the copyright text extends around the whole circumference of the label. The
four new German releases released from now on have a different design of
record labels: lighter beige with multi-Warner logos and without parallel
lines. |

The German release of 1988 now has a
new design of labels: they are lighter beige, without parallel lines but
with multiple "shadow" Warner logos. The rear sleeve has the same codes at
top right as for the previous release, but the WEA logo in relief is now in
different position at bottom right. |

This is the last German vinyl release as far
as I know. It was again made in Germany (reunified on 9 Nov 1989) but this time
it was exported to the rest of Europe, including France, the UK and Spain. The
codes on the rear sleeve at top right are again different, and now include a
barcode, but the catalogue number is still the same: "WB 66 076".
The record labels have an identical design
to that of the 1988 release, including the shadow Warner's logos, but there are
three noticeable differences:
- They now have the "BIEM" logo in addition
to "GEMA" to enable the records to be exported to the rest of Europe (BIEM is
an association of European copyright companies)
- So that the album can be exported to the
UK, the labels have now the UK catalogue number (K 66076) even though the
original German catalogue number is still on the rear sleeve.
- For the same reason, the labels now
include UK publishers credits (Island Music, etc.), present on the labels of
all previous UK releases, but never on previous German releases.
Thanks to Gerd
Rundel and Manuel García Jara for information and scans.

The Band plus Guests - "The Last Waltz" - 3LP set, Warner Bros
WB 66 076 (West Germany for NL), Apr 1978, re-released 1982:
Dutch albums of the WEA group (Warner,
Elektra, Asylum) are curious in that the records were made in Holland and they
have the "STEMRA" logo on the labels, but the sleeves were printed in West
Germany (see also the Dutch releases of Planet Waves
and Before The Flood in
International Album
Releases (Regular), which both have Dutch
records in German sleeves). This system was still in operation in 1978 and 1982.

The first Dutch
release of this album was released in 1978. This Dutch set has the sleeve
printed in Germany (the usual wide single and textured sleeve) with the same
code as that of the first German releases (with "E" in a circle) and also
includes the German booklet. The records themselves were made in Holland
with the "Burbank palm tree" design and the Dutch "STEMRA" logo on the labels. On
Side 2 Joni Mitchell's song Coyote is mistitled as "Coyota".
There are no track timings.
Second release (1982):
Warner Bros WB 66 076
(West Germany for NL) - rear scan by Manuel García
Jara (second
release) |
The second Dutch release again came
with booklet, beige inner sleeves and outer sleeve printed in Germany, now
with "L" in a circle on the rear sleeve instead of "E". The record labels
now have the new beige design. |

Unlike those of the first release, the
records themselves were now made in Germany, although they still have the Dutch
"STEMRA" logo. On Side 2 Joni Mitchell's song Coyote is now correct.
The labels now have track timings and on Side 5 track 6 (I Shall Be Released) is
timed at 3:53.

First release (1978):
Warner Bros WB 66 076
(West Germany for France) - front scan by Manuel García Jara (all releases) |
From 1970 until the late 1980s, records of the WEA group
were made and distributed in France by Filipacchi Music. Because of capacity
problems, some records from this company were released in France in two
different releases: one made in France and another made in Germany with the
French copyright organisation "SACEM" logo. This release was released in 1978.
It has the usual booklet and sleeve printed in Germany and the code on the rear
sleeve has "E" in a circle. |

The records were also made in West Germany but they have
the French "SACEM" logo as shown. The labels have the "Burbank palm tree"
design. The typeface of the first release labels is identical to that of the
first German release from Gerd Rundel above with a smaller copyright text in the
circumference. "Made In Germany" does not appear on the labels of Gerd's German
copy or those of this "German/French" release.
Many releases of this set don't have track
timings on the record labels, but there is some confusion with I Shall Be Released
(R-0144): on some
Side 5 record labels there is a "Fade", applause (1:29) after I Shall Be Released
(3:53); on others there is no "Fade" and only I Shall Be Released is shown
as 3:53; the first and second releases are like this, but on the third release
below I Shall Be Released is listed at just 1:10! Even
so, the actual recordings on Side 5 of all sets are identical.
Second release (also 1978):
Warner Bros WB 66 076 (West
Germany for France) - Side 1 (Record 1, Side 1) scan by Manuel García
Jara (second
release, no Dylan) |
This second release was also bought in France in
1978. It again has the same sleeve and booklet printed in Germany. The rear
sleeve has "E" in a circle at top right, as the first release. The
record labels have the "Burbank palm tree" design
and they are similar to those of the second German release with the larger
copyright text in the circumference including "MADE IN GERMANY". They
again have the French "SACEM" logo like the first French release. Track 6 on
Side 5 (I Shall be Released) is again timed at 3:53.

Warner Bros WB 66 076
(West Germany for France) - detail of rear, scan by
Sergio Mariano Romay (copy

Sergio Mariano Romay
has a copy with mixed record labels, all with the "SACEM" logo: Sides 1, 2
and 5 do not have "MADE IN GERMANY" (as for the first release), Sides 3, 4 and 6
have "MADE IN GERMANY" (as for the second release). These are already shown. The
rear sleeve has a sticker with "L" at rear top right covering the "E" as shown
above. The records of this copy have handwritten matrix numbers: Side 1 -
66076-A WEA 3WS-1-31462 PF, Side 2 - WEA
3WS-2-3146-B 66076-B PF sö, Side 3 - 020 WEA - 3-3146-A

Third release (1979):
Warner Bros WB 66 076
(West Germany for France) - front scan by Manuel García Jara (all releases) |
The third French release from 1979 again has the same sleeve
and booklet printed in Germany. The rear sleeve still has "E" in a circle but there
are traces of a removed
sticker, unfortunately missing. The text "Made in Germany by WEA Musik
GmbH." has been crossed out with a black marker pen on Manuel's copy. The records
this time were made in
France by Filipacchi Music (the logo of this company was usually on the sleeve,
but it isn't here, nor is it on the record labels).
The record labels again have the "Burbank palm tree" design, but they
have a very different text layout,
with "MADE IN FRANCE" and the "SACEM" logo. As stated above, track 6
on Side 5 (I Shall Be Released) is wrongly listed as 1:10 (the actual tracks on
the LP side are the same as on the previous releases).

This was the fourth French release of
this album, the first with the new design of labels (there were two releases
with records made in Germany with the "Burbank palm tree" design of labels
and the French "SACEM" logo, and one previous with the records made in
France). |

The sleeve was again printed in Germany and has
"L" in a circle at top right of the rear, but the records themselves were made in France by Filipacchi Music.
This time the company name is printed on the labels in the circumference text
along with "MADE IN FRANCE". The copyright text in the
circumference is part in capital letters, part in lower case. Side 5 track 6 (I
Shall Be Released) is again wrongly timed at 1:10.
Fifth release (1983):
Warner Bros WB 66 076
(West Germany for France) - rear scan by Manuel García
Jara (fifth release) |
This is the fifth French
release of this
album, the second with the beige design of labels. The sleeve was printed in
Germany and the copy shown has a sticker with "WE|323" covering part of the code on the
rear at top right. The records were again made in France by Filipacchi Music and
the labels are almost identical to those of the previous release, but the
copyright text in the circumference is now all in capital letters. Side 5 track
6 (I Shall Be Released) is again wrongly timed at 1:10.

Sixth release (1985):
Warner Bros WB 66 076
(West Germany for France) - rear scan by Manuel García
Jara (sixth release) |
The sixth (and almost certainly the
last) French release of this set was released in 1985. While in South
European countries (Spain, Italy, Yugoslavia or Greece) Warner Bros. was
active until the late 1980s or early 1990s (see releases of Traveling
Wilburys albums), from 1985 onwards in the rest of Europe records of this
company were only made in Germany and exported to other countries. |

at top right), booklet and records. The record labels are identical to
those of the equivalent German release (see above) but they have the "SACEM" instead of the "GEMA" logo. Side 5
track 6 (I Shall Be Released) is now timed at 3:53.

This set is the second
of four
European releases of this album from 1985. The first was from France above, the
third and fourth are from Austria and Switzerland below. All of them are very
collectable, possibly the rarest of all the releases with the German sleeve. This set was
made in Germany to be sold exclusively in the Belgian market. The rear sleeve again
has "L" in a circle at top right and the record labels
are identical to those of the fourth German release above except for the "SABAM"
logo of the Belgian copyright organisation to the left of the centre hole. ("SABAM" is "Société
d’Auteurs Belge – Belgische Auteurs Maatschappij"). Side
5 track 6 (I Shall Be Released) is now timed at 3:53. Simon Blokker has an
unusual copy of the Belgian release, Record 1 has mixed labels - it has the
expected Side 1 with the "SABAM" logo as above, but Side 2 has the Austrian
copyright logo "Austro Mechana" instead as the Austrian Side 2 below. Records 2
and 3 have the Belgian labels with the "SABAM" logos as expected.

WB 66 076 (West Germany for Austria), 1985:
Warner Bros WB 66 076
(West Germany for Austria) - front scan by Manuel García Jara |
This is one of the rarest of all the
German releases, made exclusively for the Austrian market. The sleeve has
several noticeable differences on the rear from previous releases. There is a
different code printed at rear top right in four lines, not in five as until
now: WB 66 076 / (3 WS 3146) / Germany: "L" in a circle / France: WE 323 . For the
first time "Germany" appears in this code and the code for France is
different. There is in addition on this copy a yellow sticker with a new code. Also for
the first time there is a difference at bottom right: there is a "WEA" logo in relief, hardly
visible. The record labels are again identical to those of the fourth German release above but they have now the
Austrian copyright logo "Austro Mechana" to the left of the centre hole. Side
5 track 6 (I Shall Be Released) is now timed at 3:53.

This album was bought in Zurich
(Switzerland) was made in Germany for the Swiss market.
It has the same sleeve as the Austrian release above with the code at rear top
right in four lines and the "WEA"
logo in relief at rear bottom right. There is also a sticker of a Swiss music store
chain, Musik Hug, with what looks like a price code. The record labels are again identical to those of the fourth German release above but they have now
no copyright logo to the left of the centre hole. The Swiss equivalent copyright
organisation to "GEMA" or "STEMRA" is called "SUISA" (see example), but their
logo is not shown. Side
5 track 6 (I Shall Be Released) is now timed at 3:53.

(first release) |
The first release of this very collectable set came in a limited
edition of 5000
numbered copies. The copy shown is #0012. The outer sleeve has a black card
band similar to a Japanese LP obi with Spanish text (the reverse of the band
is plain black). As well as the three LPs, the outer sleeve contains the
standard 12-page booklet. The LPs are in Hispavox inner sleeves and have
buff Warner Bros labels with song titles in English and Spanish. There is a
spelling mistake on Side 5, the side with Bob's set - I Shall Be Released is
listed as "I Shall Be Relased". The first
100 copies of the set had a coupon to send away for a set of 12 posters
sized 34cm x 24cm (13.5" x 9.5") and a free 7" limited edition single. Only
the film poster and the poster with Bob are shown. The poster set has been
reissued by CB Films, the Spanish distributors of "The Last Waltz" and can
still be purchased today. The limited edition single below is extremely
rare. |

Hispavox/Warner Bros S 96.302/S 90.031-033 (Spain), 1979 (second
release):
There was a very important difference in the way of working of CBS Spain and Hispavox. CBS albums always were released in limited quantities (a few
thousands) and when copies were sold out those records were reissued again
and again, usually with several differences from previous releases (ideal for
collectors!). Hispavox always released albums in massive quantities (many thousands) and for
this reason Hispavox albums were rarely reissued. It is therefore surprising
that The Last Waltz was first released in Spain as a limited edition (only 5000
copies) for collectors. Those copies were sold out quickly and in 1979 Hispavox
had to reissue this set, and amazingly released a second edition for
collectors, again limited to 5000 copies.
Hispavox/Warner Bros S
96.302/S 90.031-033 (Spain) - front with band, scan by Manuel García Jara
(second release) |
This second release is essentially identical to the first
release: it has
an identical
cardboard band, booklet, inner sleeves and record labels. The most noticeable
difference is the top left corner of the rear sleeve: now the text is "Segunda edición
numerada para coleccionistas de 5000 ejemplares. Disco nº: 6464" [Second
numbered release of 5000 copies for collectors. Record #6464]. |

The
first copy of this second release was record #5001, so the copy shown is actually #1464 of this new
release.
The record labels are identical to that of the first release, apart from a slight
difference on the Side 3 record label (Side 1 of record 2), the first release has the
correct reference "S 96.302 / S 96.032", while this copy has just "_ 96.302
/ S 96.032" (first "S" missing). The spelling mistake on Side 5 is
still
there with I Shall Be Released listed as "I Shall Be Relased". This
track is timed at 3:53 (see comments for other releases above).

The very rare promotional copy was distributed to radio
stations in 1981. The front has a gold embossed stamp with the text "PROMOCIONAL",
almost identical to that of the US promo release of 1978 (see above). Each
record is individually numbered (50.057/8/9). The record labels are white with
promo text on side 1 of each record. The commercial copy has the same sleeve
without the promo stamp, and the records this time have beige Warner Bros labels
with parallel lines.

Warner Bros 17187 (France, 1978) - front scan by Manuel García Jara (no
Dylan) |
This single given away to the first 100 applications using the coupon above is the only 7" single from The Last Waltz
with Bob Dylan released anywhere
worldwide. The copy shown is #37 of the 100 manufactured. There is
no catalogue number. Each side has text "OBSEQUIO DE HISPAVOX PROHIBIDA SU VENTA
[GIFT OF HISPAVOX SALE PROHIBITED]". The text which is now faded to grey was stamped on
to the generic printed labels, the printed text has remained black. This single
from the Band's farewell concert is a recreation of The Band's first 7" single
release in 1968 which had the same two songs taken from their Capitol album
Music From Big Pink, see
Honourable Mentions. Although The
Weight was translated as El Peso both times, I Shall Be Released is
translated as "Quedaré Libre" in 1968 and "Van
A Dejarme Libre" in 1978! The B-side is timed at 3:53 as on the LP sides
that have track timings (apart from the third French release, where it's wrongly
timed at 1:10).
Apart from the Spanish single, there were
two singles taken from The Last Waltz
released in many countries: Out Of The Blue/The Well (released in
the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand) and Theme From The Last Waltz/Out
Of The Blue (released in the USA, UK, Germany, France, Japan, etc.). A US
promo 7" single of Out Of The Blue/The Well and a French
commercial 7" single of Theme From The Last Waltz/Out Of The Blue
are shown as examples.

This stereo vinyl 3LP release was made by EMI in Greece
for Warner Bros. Like other worldwide releases, there is a single wide sleeve
holding the three records in plain sleeves plus the 12" booklet.
The set
includes the same booklet as the German releases above.
The records are individually numbered and have Warner Bros "Burbank palm tree"
picture labels.
There no mistakes in the song titles of the
Dylan set, unlike on the cassette release.

cassettes. The insides of the inserts are blank. The cassettes are separately
numbered TC-WB 0758, TC-WB 0759 and TC-WB 0760, and are buff with pink Warner
Bros paper labels. Track 2 on the Side 5 label (cassette 3 Side 1) is
incorrectly shown as "Baby Let Me Follow You Dawn", and track 3 is listed
as "Don't Believe You" instead of I Don't Believe You.

The Band plus Guests - "The Last Waltz" - 3LP

The Yugoslav release of the album
was manufactured under licence for Warner Bros by Suzy Records of Zagreb
(now Croatia). Suzy Records released Planet
Waves and Before The Flood in conjunction with Asylum Records as well as Dylan albums and singles
for CBS Records during the 1970s and 1980s until
Down In The Groove
in 1988. The catalogue number is
misprinted as "66o76" on the rear sleeve, spine and booklet front. There are
three record label variants, all in the same sleeve, and their sequence of
release is not obvious.

This
set has identical artwork to that of the other two releases but these record
labels are
completely different from the other two. Hans Seegers dates this album as being the
second to be released chronologically, which means that Suzy Records must have
ordered records from Helidon of Ljubljana (now Slovenia) and also from this
company, Diskos of Aranđelovac (now Serbia) at more or less the same time,
releasing these slightly later. The records have the "Burbank Palm Tree"
design of labels with "1978" as date of release in all sides. |

According
to the accepted historic sequence in Warner Bros record label designs, the green
Warner labels (1968-72) were earlier than the "Burbank Palm Tree" labels
(1972-78), but the matrix numbers on these records (LP-66076 A/B/C/D/E/F) have
"211278" (21 Dec 1978) on sides 1 and 2; "251278" (25 Dec 1978) on sides 3 and 4
and "221278" (22 Dec 1978) on sides 5 and 6, so it must have been released in
early 1979. There are no mistakes in the song titles, as on the other two
variants below.

The second and third variant records have
unique green Warner Bros/Suzy Records labels. These records were pressed by Helidon, who
also pressed Nashville
Skyline in 1982 (most CBS Records were pressed by Jugoton). Hans Seegers
dates the first of these (the one I've called the second variant) as being first
chronologically.

These
second variant records
have green labels with a red and green Warner logo (a different green from the
background green colour). All sides
of the labels have "1978" as date of release, even though this set
cannot have been not released
until early 1979: according to the matrix numbers (again LP-66076-A/B/C/D/E/F), all
sides have in addition the mastering date "221278" (22 Dec 1978), so it is
almost impossible that it was released in 1978. There are two mistakes on the
record labels: on Side 1 Stage Fright is listed as "Stager-Fright", and
on Side 3 Mannish Boy is listed as just "Mannish".
Warner Bros/Suzy Records WB

Warner Bros/Suzy
Records WB 66076
(Yugoslavia) -
Side 1 scan by Manuel García Jara (third variant, no Dylan) |
This
variant set, also pressed by Helidon, is almost certainly the third release
chronologically. This copy also has green Warner Bros labels but there are
now noticeable differences from the previous release: the Warner logo is in
black only (no
red or different green), some text elements are in different positions to the left and at right of the
centre hole, the tracklist text is printed in bigger characters and sides 1 to 4
have "1979" as the date of release, but curiously
sides 5 and 6 still have "1978".
According to the matrix numbers (again LP 66076-A/B/C/D/E/F) sides 1, 2, 3 and
4 have "30879" (30 Aug 1979) as the mastering date, but side 5 has
"221278"
(22 Dec 1978, as for the two previous side 5s) and side 6 has "30679" (30 Jun 1979). It implies that this set
was not released until Sep 1979. |

The song titles on
these labels still have the same mistakes as in the previous Helidon release.
The label scan by Dr. Hanns Peter Bushoff looks a lighter green,
but this is probably just a scanner difference.
Thanks to Dr. Hanns Peter Bushoff and Manuel García
Jara for information and
scans.
The Band plus Guests - "The Last Waltz" - 3LP set, Warner Bros 66076 (Israel), 1978:
Warner Bros 66076
(Israel) -
front scan by Manuel García Jara |
This
Israeli release has the same catalogue number used in all European countries
except in Spain. This catalogue number is present only on the record labels
and on the spine, but not on the front or the rear sleeve. The wide single
sleeve has Hebrew text in a golden star, printed not a sticker, which must
be the album title and artists. The rear sleeve has copyright text in
English and in Hebrew at the bottom and also the artist list is also
translated into Hebrew. The includes the usual US booklet with "Printed in
USA" and the US catalogue number, even though this set has the European
catalogue number. The records were made in Israel and have the Burbank Palm
Tree label design with all text in English except "MADE IN ISRAEL" in
Hebrew.

commercial 3LP sets, Warner
Bros P-5552~4W (Japan), Apr 1978:
Warner Bros P-5552~4W
(Japan) - front with obi, scan by Wil Gielen |
This set has a black and white obi with price ¥5,700. The promo release
records have plain white labels with black text and Japanese characters
indicating a sample, the commercial release records have the US-style palm
tree design Warner Bros
labels. There was a 12-page stapled booklet in English and a 4-page insert
in English and Japanese which included not only lyrics but also the
transcription of words before and after every track. The records had paper inner sleeves
with the catalogue number individually printed on them. There is a mistake
(unusual in Japanese records): "It Makes No Diferrence" on the Side 2
label and on the front of the insert. Track 6 on Side 5 (I Shall Be
Released) is wrongly timed at 1:29 (the length of the fade listed on some
releases). Thanks to

Bros 3WS 3146 (Australia), Apr 1978:
The Band plus Guests - "The Last Waltz" - 3LP set, Warner
Bros 3WS 3146 (New Zealand), Apr 1978 (two variants):
The records have plain Warner Bros labels - Side 4 of
Bill's Hester's copy has a misprinted catalogue number of "3WS 4146/2" instead of "3WS
3146/2". There are no track timings on
any of the record labels. Manuel García Jara has a copy in the same
sleeve with slightly different record labels - the Side 4 label has the correct
catalogue number 3WS 3146/2 while the Side 5 label with Dylan's set has two
slight differences: the "5" is closer to the centre hole and there is less space
between the two lines at the bottom of the label.
Thanks to
Bill Hester and Manuel García Jara for information and scans.

These rare releases
were manufactured in the Philippines.
As in many countries, they have the US catalogue number on the
sleeve and record
labels.
Like in the rest of the world, they have a wide single sleeve that holds all
three records, but unusually the sleeve is divided into three pockets to hold
the three records (the centre pocket is wider to hold the booklet as well). |

This
sleeve has an unique front with text above and below the centre picture, plus the artist list around the border. The
1978 front
looks identical to that of the 1980s release below, but it has a very important difference:
there is a mistake on the front in the title itself. The title was originally printed as "ORIGINAL
MOTION PICTURES SOUNDTRACK". Warner Bros tried to correct this error with a black panel ("3 RECORD
SET") overprinted (not a sticker) but the last "S" is still partially
visible! This error was corrected in the 1980s reissue, see below. The rear
sleeves of both releases are identical with the mistake "The Weigt" instead of
The
Weight and "The Last Waltz Reprain" instead of The Last Waltz
Refrain (the song titles are correct on the Side 6 labels). The first
release also includes the usual
booklet (see detail).
The records have unusual laminated labels and they have the "Burbank palm trees" design.
The text “PARI MEMBERS APPROVED” appears in a circle on each label (PARI =
"Philippine Association Of Record Industry Inc."). The records of the copy shown
have matrix numbers: Side 1 -
3WS-1-3146-Rec-1 Re-1 Lw-4 AZ, Side 2 - 3WS-2-3146-Rec-1 Re-1 Lw-3 AZ, Side 3 -

Lw-1 AZ. Track 6 on Side 5 (I Shall Be Released) is wrongly timed at

Gerd Rundel's 1980s
copy comes without a booklet or insert (this may have been missing or not
present from new). The mistake in the album title on the front has now been
corrected and the "3 RECORD SET" panel is printed in a more appropriate
place. The records now have plain grey Warner Bros laminated labels, still
with the "PARI MEMBER APPROVED" logo. The
records of the copy shown have handwritten matrix numbers: Side 1 -
"3WS-1-3146-Rec-1-Re-1", Side 2 - "3WS-2-3146-Rec-1-Re-1", Side 3 - "3WS
3146 Record 2 Side A", Side 4 - "Side 4 3WS-2-3146-Rec-2-Re-1", Side 5 -
"Side 5 3WS-1-3146-Rec-3-Re-1", Side 6 - "Side 6 3WS-2-3146-Rec-3-Re-1".
Track 6 on Side 5 (I Shall Be Released) is timed at 3:53 plus the 1:29 fade.

Warner Bros/Teal Records 3WS 3146 (Rhodesia) - front scan by Lars M. Banke |
This set was manufactured in Rhodesia
by TEAL Record Company for Warner Bros and is very different from the South
African release. It has a unique front sleeve with a smaller black/gold logo
moved upwards to the right, and a list of participating artists on the left.
The rear sleeve is also unique to Rhodesia and has the tracklist and
musician credits. There is no country of origin on the sleeve or the record
labels, but there is a record shop sticker at rear top right from "Music",
Old Mutual Arcade, Abercorn Street
- there were Abercorn Streets in
Salisbury (now Harare) and Bulawayo, but Old Mutual Arcade was in Harare. The record labels have beige Warner Bros labels with
"Manufactured by TEAL Record Company" at
the top. |

Warner Bros 36.066/7/8 (Brazil)
- front scan by Manuel García Jara |
This
first Brazilian release, like all WEA albums, was made by Gravaçôes
Electricas of São Paulo, part of
Discos Continental. It has the usual wide single sleeve but printed on the
front is the text "3 Discos. Trilha Sonora do
Filme 'O Último Concerto de Rock' [3 Records. Soundtrack of 'The Last
Concert of Rock']". In Spain, the movie and the album have the translated
title El Último Vals
but in the rest of the Spanish speaking countries both were
El Último Rock and in
Brazil the title was similar, O Último Concerto de Rock
for the movie, while the album always had its original English title. The
rear sleeve has the Warner Bros logo at top right and copyright text at the
bottom, but the rear is unique in having sleeve notes taken from the
dialogue of the movie. |

This set doesn't have
the usual booklet, but the inner sleeves have the same front and rear as the
booklet with the Brazilian catalogue number printed at top right on rear. This
inner sleeve is identical for all three records. The record labels have the
Burbank Palm Tree design with typewritten style lettering, individually numbered
"36.066", "36.067" and "36.068".
There was a later set
released in Brazil in the early 1980s with the same catalogue number as this,
but with the new record label design - to be added.
Warner Bros 36.066/7/8 (Brazil)
- front with sticker, scan by Manuel García Jara (promo release) |
Warner Bros released a single LP promoting the set in countries such as the
USA and Spain, with a selection of tracks
from each of the 3 LPs. This is different, Warner Bros Brazil had a promo
single LP sleeve printed, and then put one of the 3 LPs from the commercial
release inside it. |

The designs of the front and rear sleeve are the same as that of the commercial
release, so that the
rear shows the original catalogue numbers of
the triple album: "36.066/7/8".
There is a sticker on front with the text "Adverténcia:
Produto Invendável / Amostra Grátis Tributada / Exclusivamente Promocional [WARNING: Not
For Sale / Free Sample
Taxed /
Exclusively Promotional]".
This is a single album, so the sticker covers the original printed text "3
Discos [3 Records]".
The copy shown has Record 3
(36.068)
which includes Bob's set, but promo copies with Records 1
(36.066)
or 2
(36.067)
can also be found. There are no promotional indications on the records
themselves.

Warner Bros 675.7001 (Brazil), 1990:
Warner Bros 675.7001 (Brazil) - front with seal on right, scan
by Manuel García Jara |
This
reissue set was released
in Brazil in 1990, sold in the Warner Bros "Discoteca Básica [Basic Discotheque]"
series (records sold at a special price) and, like other Warner Bros records of
the time with different artists (e.g. Traveling Wilburys), it was made by BMG Ariola in Sâo Paulo for WEA
Discos Ltda. This reissue is very different from the original set released
in 1978.
The catalogue number is different, but there
are other numbers printed on the rear sleeve or on the
booklet ("759927346-1" or "01081") The catalogue numbers of all Warner Group
releases today start with "7599", so this was a new series number (see the
German 2000 CD release below).

The sleeve has a noticeable yellow colour.
The front sleeve text with the Portuguese title "O último concerto de rock" and the
rear sleeve text about
The Band are missing from this reissue. There is new text printed on
the front, advertising the "Série Discoteca Básica". This copy also
has a sticker seal from Carrefour in Sâo Paulo on the front and rear of the
outer sleeve over the opening edge, covering the rear cut-out. It includes the usual booklet.
The record labels have the new Warner Bros
beige design with parallel lines. They all have the "675.7001" catalogue number,
but are shown as "DISCO 1", etc., to the right of the centre hole.

Both the promo and commercial
releases have the same
yellow sleeve (front and rear), the same booklet (yellow too), and the same inner
sleeve (yellow too, without any text). The promotional release has nothing to
identify it as a promo (except the record labels).
The set was released in the
Warner Bros "Serie Super Lujo Especial [Super Luxury Special Series]" and has a brown sticker with yellow letters on the front
sleeve with text "Banda Original de la película 'EL
ÚLTIMO
ROCK' [Original Soundtrack of the Film 'The Last Rock']", followed of the
Argentinean catalogue number. On the spine it reads:
"14.935/6/7 – THE BAND – THE LAST WALTZ – BANDA ORIGINAL DE LA PELICULA 'EL
ÚLTIMO ROCK'".
The front design is the same as the
first US promo release, the centre Last Waltz logo is without the contrasting black background used almost
everywhere else.
The booklet is also unique: although the front
is the same as other worldwide releases, the rear has the tracklist,
information and credits in Spanish. The inside pages have the usual pictures but
with information in Spanish: e.g. the page 3 picture is captioned "El Concierto"
instead of "The Concert".
The records of the promotional copy have white
"MH" labels, with the title and name of artist under the central hole (on the
commercial release labels they are over the central hole). They have the promotional text twice
(once in red ink) and
the logo (MH). The matrix numbers (stamped) are as for the commercial release
below. On the white promo labels the "MH" logo has the extra text
“ES ARGENTINA! [IS ARGENTINA!]” This is the same as the white promo labels of the
Argentinean promotional copy
of Before The Flood. However, for the Argentinean promotional copy of
Planet Waves, the "MH" logo only has the extra text
“MUSIC-HALL”. Sergio thinks the change dates from 1976 when the
commercial company “Music Hall” had new Argentinean owners. The song
titles are translated into Spanish. The promotional release is accompanied by a
typewritten promotional note that gives a brief review of the musical history of The Band
in two pages. Sergio translates the last paragraph as: “Worthy was this farewell for
The Band, that although dissolved follows living in the heart of the lovers of
good music without concessions, because of all things, the music of The
Band transmitted love.” There is one error on Side 1 - the composer of Up
On Cripple Creek is misspelled as "R. Bobertson".
The (very crowded) record labels of the commercial
release have the Warner Bros Palm Tree design, with the song
titles translated into Spanish. The spelling mistake on Side 1 is repeated. The matrix numbers (stamped) are: Side 1 - MH 14395 1 1S, Side
2 - MH 14395 2 1S, Side 3 - MH 14396 3 1S,
Side 4 - MH 14396 4 1S, Side 5 - MH 14397 5 1S,
Side 6 - MH 14397 6 1S.

The left panel of the gatefold has one wide pocket to hold one record and
the booklet, the right panel has two pockets to hold the other two records. The outer gatefold has an unique front: it has the
hyperbolic Spanish text printed on it: "El más celebrativo e imponente concierto
rock "[The most celebrated and superb rock concert ever]; and is also
unique in having two pictures on the front: the larger one has the Spanish title
("El Último Rock") and there is also a very small picture with the original title. The spine is almost the same as in the US release except
for the missing text "Printed in USA".
The rear sleeve has several unique details: two "owl logos" of Grabaciones
Mundiales, one with the catalogue number and the other with the GM address in Caracas; a
"K" in a circle; and also the text "Serie K PVP 84.-" = "Precio de
Venta al Público [Price for sale to the public] 84
Bolivars); and "Disco es cultura". The copyright text at the bottom is again the
same as for the US release, except for "Printed in USA" missing.
The inner gatefold sleeve has pictures taken from the booklet:
the left panel has images of The Band and the right panel has an image of the
concert. This set includes the US booklet.
The records have beige/grey design Warner Bros. labels with parallel
lines. The song titles are in Spanish and English with some mistakes: on Side 2
Dry Your Eyes
is translated as "Saca tus ojos [Take out your
eyes]" instead of "Seca tus ojos" and on Side 5 I Shall Be
Released is translated as "Deberías ser liberado [You Should Be Released]".

This 3LP set was released in Peru in 1979 by Virrey Records on behalf of Warner Brothers, who also released a promo EP
containing a Traveling Wilbury track in 1989, again on behalf of Warner
Brothers. It comes in a wide single sleeve holding all three LPs that
unusually opens at the top, not the side. There is
no 12" booklet, but the records are housed in picture inner sleeves with
photos from the booklet. The record sides are ordered 1/2, 3/4 and 5/6, and
there are two variants of record labels as shown (only however for Records 1 and
2). Record 3 of the variant 1 copy has variant 2 labels, so there should be a
Record 3 with labels in variant 1 style.

case and had a single booklet on much thinner paper. The CDs are gold in
colour and were the same for both releases.
