CBS/Sony 28DP 1024 had a green and white obi in the "CBS CD ROCK 100" series with reduced price ¥2,800 (again, the "28" in the catalogue number means the price is ¥2,800). It had a 20-page booklet.
Sony Records SRCS 6159 had a black, red, white and blue obi in the "Nice Price Line 15" series with further reduced price ¥1,800 (¥1,748 plus sales tax) and date "91-12-1" (1 Dec 1991).

The 1990s release, bought by me on a visit to the USA, has a
front insert of a single folded card with the poem by Johnny Cash on the
inside. The front picture has no Columbia logo at top left, but it does have
a Compact Disc logo at bottom right. The rear insert is a plain design with
only the tracklisting and the rear skyline picture is missing. The CD is
silver with black text. Gil Lamont has a copy, presumably from the late
1980s, with the same artwork as mine but a different design CD with the
earlier Columbia logo. Wil Gielen has a copy of the 1990s US release
imported into Japan in the mid-1990s with an obi from the Shinseido record store chain. The
obi has price ¥1,408 (cheaper than the equivalent Japanese release, but
accompanied by the Japanese characters for "excluding tax"). This means it
was imported into Japan after the introduction of sales tax in 1989. The

These are the earliest releases of this album on CD in Canada. The inserts were printed in Canada. Both are almost identical but Keith Schweiger's copy has a box on the rear insert with “Price Code”, “R” and “INDICATIF DE PRIX” written vertically. This is missing from the rear insert of Jack from Canada's copy. The rear insert of Jack from Canada's copy also has a different, smaller, barcode. The two CDs also look identical but Jack from Canada's copy has “MADE IN CANADA” to the right of the centre hole under the catalogue number and compact disc logo, missing from Keith Schweiger's copy. I therefore conclude that Keith's copy is earlier, with the CD made in the USA or even Japan (as were the CDS of the earliest US releases). The first release of CBS CDCBS 63601 has no barcode on the rear insert and the disc was made in Japan. The second CBS release now has a barcode and the disc was made in Austria.
This album was included in Bob Dylan Volume Two, a 1990s 3CD set with three individual CDs in a card box containing Subterranean Homesick Blues [Bringing It All Back Home], Highway 61 Revisited and Nashville Skyline. All three CDs had the "CBS" logo and the same catalogue number, 467391 2, and were made in Austria. There were three variants of this set with different front and rear card box designs (the second front comes with two different rear designs). The Columbia release has a "Nice Price" sticker, a different rear insert design and a CD with two red panels.

The Spanish 1990s CD release is on CBS/Sony because the Columbia name could not be used in Spain for legal reasons. It has the Sony Music Spanish address, Paseo de la Castellana, 93, 28046-Madrid. The artwork was printed in Spain. The CD has the CBS/Sony logo and the Dutch "BIEM/STEMRA" copyright details, although it was made in Austria.

The CDs were manufactured in Australia but the artwork is the same as the late 1980s European release and was printed in Holland. The CDs of the 1980s and 1990 CBS releases were manufactured in Australia by Disctronics. The 1990 release also came in a double pack with John Wesley Harding. |

The two Columbia releases are almost identical except that on the early 1990s CD the text "MANUFACTURED IN AUSTRALIA BY SONY MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT (AUSTRALIA) LIMITED" in on three lines, and on the 1995 CD the text is on four lines.

This "Gold Series" CD was released on 6 Jul 2018. The bar code is now different. The new bar code number "190758668925" is on the spine in place of "CDCBS 63601". The artwork is the same as the 1995 copy. The disc is now gold instead of silver. It is one of several Dylan releases in the "Gold Series". |

This CD, which was sealed when bought in France, is an oddity. The catalogue number is "COL 63601" on the inserts (like other European releases of the time), but the disc itself has catalogue number "465214 2" and the text "DISC 2". This CD must be the one that was included in the French multi-pack "Two Originals" - "The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan" & "Nashville Skyline" (see International Album Releases (Multi-Packs) 1990s), released there with catalogue number "465214 2", where Nashville Skyline was disc #2. The disc of the French multi-pack has been reused for this release as a single CD!

This CD-R for radio play only comes in a clear plastic wallet with a
single-sided paper insert
dated "6/18/2003". I assume because it was sent to radio stations

This release is housed in a three-panel digipak and contains a CD version and
an SA-CD stereo version. There's no 5.1 surround sound version despite the
fact the album was also released in quadraphonic sound. The outside of the
digipak has a previously unpublished picture of Bob with Johnny Cash at the
recording sessions. The inside of the
digipak has three more pictures of Bob taken by Elliot Landy at Woodstock in
1969. The North American and European releases have no booklet. My commercial copy illustrated is the Canadian release, and had the same sticker on the outside of the shrink-wrap as the one illustrated for The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan. The SA-CD design reproduces the Columbia US "360º SOUND" stereo vinyl label used in 1969. The Canadian SA-CD has shorter copyright text round the circumference than the US SA-CD. This release at mid-price is in a standard
jewel case with a clear CD tray and consists of the remastered CD
layer only of the 2003 hybrid SA-CD release above. The front CD
insert booklet includes pictures from the SA-CD booklet. All the CDs have Digital Audio Text, not present on earlier CD releases. |

The Japanese release comes in a card sleeve reproducing the LP sleeve with a top obi. Both the promo and the commercial releases have the "DYLAN ALIVE '04" silver sticker with black text on the cellophane sleeve. |

Wil Gielen's copy shown is a promo, with a numbered promo sticker on the rear of the card sleeve. It also has "SAMPLE LOANED" in red in the clear centre of the CD itself. The obi has price ¥1,890 (¥1,800 before tax) and release date "04-8-18" (18 Aug 2004). The original release date is shown as "69-4-9" (9 Apr 1969) and the withdrawal date as "05-2-17" (17 Feb 2005). There is an insert which folds out to a larger size.

This release is on a Blu-spec CD, an audio-only disc which is presumably
intended to be Sony's new high quality audio format, currently sold in Japan
only. The copy shown is still
sealed, with a blue and white obi with price ¥2,500 (¥2,381 before tax). The
release date is shown as "09-8-26" (26 Aug 2009), the original release date
as "69-4-9" (9 Apr 1969) and the withdrawal date as "10-2-25" (25 Feb
2010). It's not actually a Blu-ray disc as it says on the sticker, but it is made using Blu-ray

This massive set is the latest in a series of "Complete Columbia Album Collections" featuring artists such as Miles Davis, Charlie Mingus, Duke Ellington, Dave Brubeck and even Blue Oyster Cult. The CD version of the set includes 41 Dylan albums in card sleeves, 14 of which have been remastered for this project, plus a 2CD set of previously released non-album tracks entitled Side Tracks. The albums exclude all compilations and The Bootleg Series sets, but do include the deleted 1973 Dylan album, see 1973, and the extra 2CD set Side Tracks includes one side of the 1971 single George Jackson (Acoustic version), R-0085, see 1971. The set is therefore listed in 2013. The set also includes a hard cover book with extensive new liner notes and previously unseen photos.
All the CDs come in card sleeves. The European sleeves are made of thicker card than the US sleeves, but they are otherwise identical, so are not shown. The catalogue number on the sleeve is "88691924312JK9" plus "DISC 10". The CDs are different in detail, the US Nashville Skyline CD has catalogue number "88691924312D10", whereas the European CD has catalogue number "88691924312-10". The European CD was made in the EU (probably Austria). The US and European copyright details are printed at the bottom of the Bob Dylan CDs, and round the circumference for The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan onwards, so I haven't shown them for the later CDs.

Thanks to Sonny Boy McFitzson for news that The Complete Album Collection was released in Japan in four decade-related parts, with the intention to release them all in 2014. The first part, called Dylan '60s, was released by Sony Music Japan on 26 Mar 2014. The Blu-Spec CD2 specification CDs come in card sleeves with printed inner sleeves and "SONY MUSIC" instead of "COLUMBIA" on the discs, which are numbered SICP 30471 to SICP 30481 (Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits, not included in the US and European sets, is included here as SICP 30479). Side Tracks, to be released at the same time, is SICP 30519-20. All the sleeves will have orange top obis similar to the 2004 Japanese releases in card sleeves. | ||||

The 2014 remastered Nashville Skyline is SICP 30481 (this album was not one of those released in Japan in Blu-spec CD2 format in 2013). The front and rear of the card sleeve reproduce the original Columbia US release KCS 9825 sleeve but the new catalogue number of SICP 30481 is on the spine. There is a 20-page Japanese language booklet with liner note and song lyrics printed on very thin paper. This copy is missing its top obi. There are two double-sided card inserts and the CD comes in a clear plastic shaped sleeve inside a stiff paper reproduction Columbia US 1969 inner sleeve as used for original US releases of Nashville Skyline. The CD design is a partial reproduction of the original Columbia US KCS 9825 1969 Side with "SONY MUSIC " instead of "COLUMBIA". The 1969 Japanese release was CBS/Sony SONP-50095.
