The Bootleg Series Vol. 15 - Travelin' Thru 1967-1969
This page is part of a list of original releases by release date of international commercially-released regular stereo Dylan albums. They do not contain rarities or obscurities and are not eligible for the Searching For A Gem list. Nevertheless, their interest value or scarcity means they're worth listing here - as far as I know some are not included on any other Internet site. Promo releases of regular albums are now listed here and no longer in the former yearly Promo sections. |

If you have any entries to add to the list or additions/corrections to existing entries, please let me know! Please note I cannot value your Dylan rarities - see the Mission page for reasons why. Contact the dealers on my Trading page for assistance!

The only formats to be released will be the
3CD and 3LP sets. There is no Limited Edition this time.
For the very limited Columbia/Legacy/Sony Music 2CD set 50th Anniversary Collection 1969, with more out-takes from Nashville Skyline and Self Portrait, see 2019.

Tracklisting:
CD1 (Bob Dylan):
CD2 (Bob Dylan with Johnny Cash):
All songs on the Dylan/Cash session were backed by Johnny Cash's band at the time including Carl Perkins. It's a pity Bob's version of Champaign, Illinois remains unreleased!
CD3 (Bob Dylan with Johnny Cash and Earl Scruggs):
*Previously released (see below)
This set includes these current rarities:
R-0502 Lay, Lady, Lay - studio rehearsal, Columbia Studios, Nashville, TN, 13 Feb 1969, released with pre-orders of iTunes download of Together Through Life, 2009, see Online Performances (Other) (CD1, track 10)
R-0827 I Threw It All Away - live on the Johnny Cash TV Show, Nashville, TN, 1 May 1969, on the US Columbia/Legacy DVD The Best Of The Johnny Cash TV Show 1969-1971 (2DVD and single DVD versions), 2007, see VHS & DVD 2000s Part 4 (CD3, track 7)
Living The Blues (CD3, track 8) was previously available unofficially, but not included on an official video. Sonny Boy McFitzson asks: "Were I Threw It All Away and Living The Blues really played live? To my ears, Bob was singing along to the prepared backing tracks from the Columbia sessions. No-one of the band appears on any photo of 'The Johnny Cash Show'!"
R-0828 Girl From The North Country - live duet with Johnny Cash on the Johnny Cash TV Show, Nashville, TN, 1 May 1969, on the US Columbia/Legacy DVD The Best Of The Johnny Cash TV Show 1969-1971 (2DVD version only), 2007, see VHS & DVD 2000s Part 4 (CD3, track 9)
R-0445 East Virginia Blues [traditional] - performed by Bob and Earl Scruggs in the National Education TV programme Earl Scruggs' Festival Of Music, broadcast 1971, but also available in the USA In The early 1990s on commercial video, see VHS & DVD 1970s (CD3, track 13)
R-0074 Nashville Skyline Rag - Earl Scruggs on banjo and Bob on guitar, from the Columbia album Earl Scruggs Performing With His Family & Friends, 1971 (CD3, track 16)
The video versions of the above performance remain rarities as do the following rarities.
R-0606 I Threw It All Away - alternate take to the version on Nashville Skyline, from the Sony Music Bob Dylan Custom Mix CD web-site, Apr 2003, see Online Performances (Other). Wrongly described as a 1969 studio outtake from the Nashville Skyline sessions, this was actually recorded with George Harrison during the New Morning sessions at Columbia Studios, New York, 1 May 1970, and remains a rarity.
R-0069 A Thousand Miles Behind [One Too Many
Mornings] - Bob and Johnny duetting in the film and video Johnny Cash: The Man
● His World ● His Music,
1969
(see
VHS & DVD 1960s)
Jack from Canada says this is not the same take as the one on CD2, track 3,
which is indeed not listed as having been previously released! Thanks to
Michel Pomarede for identifying this take as Take 2 from 17 Feb 1969. This has
now been released in Dec 2019 on
50th Anniversary Collection 1969,
a very limited 2CD set, so R-0069 remains a rarity.
Thanks to Michael Gray, Harold Lepidus, Harald Sigvartsen, and Jack from Canada for information.

The Japanese booklet has complete translations of English booklet, summarised chronicles 1967-70 by Heckel Sugano (based on Olof's Chronology), detailed track by track commentaries by Kenta Hagiwara, full English and Japanese lyrics.
